The X-Men First Class voting application allowed users to vote for a particular cinema.
The winning cinema would then host the screening and local users who voted for that cinema would win tickets.
The application was built by Flash wizard Craig Beswetherwick with me working on a RESTFul API that would accept calls to register a users vote and return the current top 10 cinemas.
I used authentication to stop unwanted calls to any POST calls that publish content to the database and returned all content back to Craig’s Flash layer in JSON format to allow for easier data manipulation.
The database stores a series of cinemas along with the latitude and longitude values and increments their count when a user registers a vote. The users vote is stored along with their email address, name and other entry information.
