HBO Recommends is a Facebook application used to determine which HBO TV shows a user would like by looking at their Facebook ‘likes’ and other demographics such as age and gender.
The Facebook application prompts for a series of permissions to obtain from the user and uses those details to interrogate a centralised database to build and deliver a recommendation profile. Once the system has built this profile it is delivered to the user with options to buy products, see the show on the official website and also allows the user to post the recommendation to their wall to provoke a response from the friends.
